This Curriculum Area includes three separate subject areas linked by a common theme of skills development: Art & Design, Hospitality & Catering and Design & Technology. Each subject is taught by a dedicated and experienced teacher that has developed schemes of learning that support students to become skilled and able to take independent decisions about their work.
As well as success at GCSE, students have entered local and national competitions with notable success, most recently including Jess Berry who made it to the finals of the Rotary Club Young Chef competition in London.
Every student in KS3 is taught each subject for two lessons a fortnight. During Year 9 they will be able to choose to follow one or more of our courses to GCSE level at KS4.
There has recently been a great deal of change to the qualifications taken which has resulted in significant and on-going modification of the schemes of learning in each subject. Our focus is on ensuring that all tasks engage and enthuse students and equip them with the skills to pursue both academic and vocational routes at post 16
